Plant-derived Baby Wipes -- What Does That Mean?

Baby wipes consist of a towel and a liquid to clean and to soothe. Most of them consist of non-renewable, petroleum-based, synthetic materials. This petroleum-based material prevents the wipes from sticking together, and also prevents them from breaking down. Because baby wipes are a single-use product that are bound for the landfill, gDiapers’ aim is to limit the amount of non-renewable resource extraction, while sourcing ingredients that are gentle and natural to the skin. gWipes by gDiapers are plant-derived, made of renewable resources and gentle on babies. The towel is 100% cellulose, made from plants, not from oil.

No added fragrance (for good reason). Many baby wipes have added fragrance, which can be skin allergens, irritants, and photosensitizers. 95% of the chemicals found in fragrances are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum. gWipes by gDiapers do not have any added fragrance.

Ingredients

100% cellulose fiber towel, Water, Linoleamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate (moisturizer derived from safflower oil), Sodium Coco PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate (conditioner derived from coconut oil), Sodium Benzoate (food grade preservative), Potassium Sorbate (food grade preservative), Tetrasodium EDTA (stabilizer), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera for soothing and moisturizing skin), Citric Acid (pH balance). No phthalates, parabens or SLS & SLES. Completely vegan. No animal testing or animal by-products.

*Why are there preservatives and stabilizers in wipes? Good question! Baby wipes are made out of a towel and a liquid; they're perpetually wet, which means it's a perfect environment for bacteria growth, aka, mold. We don't want you to have moldy baby wipes. So we use the smallest amount of gentle preservatives possible in order to keep bacteria from growing.
